Story Maps
Esri Story Maps are web applications that allow institutions, such as the Gore Center, to create and show compelling stories using geography, maps, photographs, videos, and more. Gore Center staff, graduate assistants, interns, and MTSU Public History students have all created Story Maps through our institutional account. See the information below to learn about and view our Story Maps.
FROM THE PRESIDENT TO THE PEOPLE
To accompany our research room exhibit, graduate assistants Kelsey Lamkin and Zachary Kautzman developed this Story Map to show the logistics of Inauguration Day as well as share stories from past presidential inaugurations.
NASHVILLE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT
Public History students in the 2017 May semester course called “Civil and Human Rights: Documenting, Preserving, and Interpreting Freedom Struggles” researched and created this Story Map on the Nashville Civil Rights Movement in just a couple of days. Using digital archives sources and the Nashville Public Library, the students highlighted various aspects of the city’s movement from the 1950s and 1960s.
MURFREESBORO GREENWAY SYSTEM
Sally Smith, our 2017 summer intern from Central Magnet School, created this Story Map on the Murfreesboro Greenway System. Sally researched the history of the Greenway using the Bart Gordon Papers, and interviewed notable figures involved in the development of the trails.
