Arrangement: The Records of the Middle Tennessee Women’s Studies association are arranged into seven series: Correspondence, Membership Records, Meeting Minutes, Newsletters, Financial, Events, and Publications. Each series is further arranged into folders with content descriptions.

Biographical Note: The Middle Tennessee Women’s Studies Association (MTWSA) formed in 1986 as a study and support group for regional faculty, graduate students, and others interested in women’s studies. Members of the association were from various disciplines of study. The organization met 6 times throughout the academic year, and rotated meeting sites among the member institutions including; Middle Tennessee State University, Belmont University, Vanderbilt University, Tennessee State University, Austin Peay State University, Fisk University, and Tennessee Tech. MTWSA provided a monthly forum for exchange and discussion on topics relevant to members’ general, research, and teaching interests. The organization created a local network for the exchange of information about contemporary women’s ideas. The organization no longer exists, but the date that it ceased operations is unknown.

Scope and Content: The Records of the Middle Tennessee Women’s Studies Association contains one linear foot of materials dating from the beginning of the organization in 1986 to 1998. Records are arranged into seven series.

Correspondence Series (1986-1999, 3 folders) includes official correspondence of the association. There is also a floppy disc which presumably contains correspondence.

Membership Records Series (1986-1998, 4 folders) includes membership records and membership application forms. There is a floppy disc which presumably contains membership records.

Meeting Minutes Series (1986-1996, 1 folder) includes meeting minutes for the association.

Newsletters Series (1986-1988, 1 folder) includes newsletters for the association.

Financial Series (1986-1998 3 folders) includes fiscal and budgetary reports for the association. Also included in the series is a rubber stamp with the association’s account number.

Events Series (1986-1996, 2 folders) includes flyers and letters about events involving the Middle Tennessee Women’s Studies Association.

Publications Series (1986-1998, 1 folder) includes letters about publications related to women’s studies, as well as listings of books and magazines related to women’s studies.
