Arrangement: The Records of Kappa Alpha Order, MTSU Chapter are arranged into three scrapbooks, and each scrapbook is in a separate box.

Biographical Note: Phi Epsilon, the first social fraternity at Middle Tennessee State University, was organized in 1961.  It was initially based in the home of Richard A. Barnes at the corner of Mercury and Tennessee Boulevard.  In October of 1966, Phi Epsilon was the first fraternity recognized on the MTSU campus.  In February of 1969, Phi Epsilon became the Delta Lambda chapter of the national fraternity Kappa Alpha.

Kappa Alpha was first organized in 1866 at Washington College in Lexington, Virginia.  Robert E. Lee was president of the college at the time, and was a valued role model for the founding members of Kappa Alpha.

Scope and Content: The Kappa Alpha Collection includes three scrapbooks containing photos, newspaper clippings, letters, and other documents related to the early years of Phi Epsilon and the Delta Lambda chapter of Kappa Alpha.  These scrapbooks span the years 1961-1972.
