Invoices, receipts, and histories of various Rutherford County businesses.

Series 2:  Churches, 1813-1990s, bulk 1940s-1990s (.75 lin. ft.)
Several area churches are represented in this series with programs, directories, and histories.  The oldest item is a record book  for the Overall Forks Baptist Church, 1814-1836.

Series 3:  Historic Structures (.25 lin. ft.)
This series includes the 1942 issue of "Hearthstones" as well as information about the Malone-Henderson Home, Marymont, Oaklands, and the Collier/Crichlow/Smythe House.

Series 4:  Organizations (1 lin. ft)
Boy Scouts, Knights of Honor, Sons of Confederacy, Commonwealth Fund.

Series 5:  People 1828-1944 (1.75 lin. ft)
Correspondence, scrapbooks, diaries, genealogy records, and unpublished works of various people from Rutherford County.  The Emma Lane Civil War era diary is of special interest.

Series 6:  Places  (.5 lin. ft.)
Various community histories and maps including Eagleville, Versailles, Murfreesboro, Rutherford County.

Series 7: Publications, 1895, 1970-2005 (5.5 lin. ft.)
Several local periodical publications; a mostly complete run of the Tennessee Historical Quarterly, beginning with the Spring 1980 issues; and various books of local interest. The most unusual item is an 1895 book published in St. Augustine, Florida, by an African American author named Joseph Burritt Sevelli-Caponi.  The book is entitled Ham and Dixie: A Just, Simple and Original Discussion of the Southern Problem and provides an assessment of race relations.  A handwritten inscription on the flyleaf reads, "Presented to Otis Denny by Mr. and Mrs. Randolf in the year of 1899, Tennessee Centennial." The Denny family lived in Smyrna in northern Rutherford County, TN.

Series 8:  Schools  (.25 lin. ft.)
The schools series contains catalogs, ledgers, and newspaper clippings from various local schools.  The Soule College Catalog of 1914-1915, a Rutherford County District 1 School Ledger are some of the earliest records in this collection.

Series 9: Wars/Military 1860s to 1990s (5 lin. ft.)
This series includes items from the Civil War period to the Gulf War.  Many of the items are part of the Oral History Collection such as letters and memoirs that are donated by veterans at the time of their interview.  The New York Times pictorial reviews in this series were deaccessioned from the Linebaugh Library.
