Arrangement:
The MTSU AAUP chapter records are arranged into three series: Chapter, State Conference, Publications. The Chapter series is divided into four subseries: correspondence, issues, reports and resolutions, and business records. State Conference series is not divided into subseries; instead, they are arranged by description of materials. The Publications series is divided into AAUP Publications and non-AAUP Publications.

Historical Note: The American Association of University Professors is a national organization that advocates for the rights of, and issues important to, collegiate and university faculty members throughout the United States. The organization’s overall purpose is “to advance academic freedom and shared governance, to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education, and to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good.” Divided into state and local chapters, the AAUP seeks to protect academic freedom, promote shared governance, defend diversity, and support collective bargaining techniques.
